Wednesday 12/06/2000 6:02:21pm Name: Aleksandar B E-Mail: wanfort209@yahoo.com Referred By: Search Engine Location: Croatia, Europe Comments: Humanity in humankind functions as any highly redundant mechanism: it exists as long as the last element of the system operates in it's determined mode and capacity ... I mean, there is still hope, if not for the Man, but for a man, if only the very last messenger of light still breathes among us, and cries into skies his painful yowl for sanity - for evil is nothing else than an abnormal state of mind, and every form of discrimination is only a type of serious mental illness, sadly, in too many cases rather of collective than of individual manifestation. In short, I wanted to say that we should breed a rational amount of hope, because we had one true MAN, one true devoted believer, who was, of course, monstruously erased from our present. But bullets will never defeat truth. Martin Luther King had the gift to enlighten the thoughts of many who already bought their tickets to regression and de-evolution, this beautiful man cried out the meaning of the Man itself : the butchering of the children of mankind that we all directly or indirectly conduct, destroying not only its present victim, but puts a black seed of destruction in the persecutor of such acts, whether it is sexual, racial, religious, national, or other form of discrimination... there are no winners in this bloody game of humankind's preschool education. So, I wanted to share with someone on the far side of this planet, that someone small, a child of bloody Balcanic history, that one Serb from Croatia, sheds tiny, silent tears whenever he remembers what a great man had to fall - so the rest of the world could rise. Marthin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi and Nikola Tesla are my only and definite moral authorities. Happines expands a place for hope, when I see how many sites are dedicated to our father : Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I send you all so many warm and honest greetings ! He gave his life, so others could live in peace. If it wasn't for him, my uncle and many of my friends would be in slavery right now, and me of course, I might even of been the owner of them. I'm also proud of Martin because he helped end slavery, and me, I just can't stand to watch ANYBODY be treated the way slaves were back then. The way those of us who suffer with mental illness, any type, are treated by the community and public is so stigmatizing, I call it prejudice and discrimination. I am not African American, but because of my mental illness, MLK is close to my heart. He also worked hard toward the end of his life to advocate for the poor and homeless. Since I work with America's Youth on a daily basis I decided to print the scavenger hunt in an attempt to heighten the awareness of Dr. King's fight for justice & equality. I believe that I work at a place that exemplifies the phrase in his famous "I HAVE A DREAM" speech: "One day, black children & white children .... play together" on a daily basis where I work. HE WORKED FOR EQUALTY FOR EVERYONE, NOT JUST FOR THE BLACKS. IT IS VERY SAD THAT WE DO NOT HAVE ANYONE TODAY TO FIGHT SO STRONGLY IN WHAT THEY FEEL AND BELIEVE IN. I COMMEND HIS FAMILY FOR KEEPING HIS LEGACY ALIVE. Martin Luther King Jr. made a great difference in the world and for people living in it. He not only freed descendants of negro slaves, but he freed everyone from themselves. Dr. King was a geat man and I think he has a great family, who gets it from him. One of my students saw the picture of Dr. King on the screen as I was doing the scavenger hunt and asked, "Who is that?" I just about fell out of my chair as I asked, "You don't know?" They shook their head and I thought to myself, "They will know who he was by the end of this school year!" TopMLKing Scavenger Hunt |
