I am glad that Mr. King had courage to stand up for what he
believed in. Most people these days don't stand up for
themselves because they are afraid. Thank you Dr. King

Mr. King was great man for sticking up for what he believed.
He was a special man sent from God. He was a leader to all
blacks and I am proud of what he did even though it was for
blacks, because I have nothing against blacks. It doesn't
matter what color your skin is to me. I don't care if you are
purple. It is what is inside of you what counts! Back then,
Whites were cruel to different races.( especially blacks) I
just want to say I am proud of him!!!!!!!!1

Dear Martin Luther King JR.:
I have been studying about you a whole
lot, and about the
way you have been treated wrong.
There is one thing that I
have learned. The
African American and whites
didn't like each other. The
blacks could not walk down the road
wthout getting hit by a white man.
Today the whites and the blacks
are still trying to fix it and it is
getting better.
You can drink from the same water
fountain as me. We could eat at the
same restaurant together. You could
sit with me on the bus.
Thank you for trying to help
us.
Sincerely,
Todd

Martin Luther King Jr. was a strong man. He talked about a new
day, but he walked a dangerous way. He preached that
violence was wrong, and he knew the fight would be long.
But he didn't let violence in him. He showed it by his words. I
love his "I Have A Dream" speach. It's so powerful! In his
dream he saw the people of his land walking side by side!
White men, black men, red men and yellow men, loving one
and other with pride. Now he's gone away before the day his
dream became a real thing, but he'll surely hear the angels
sing about the dream of Martin Luther King! And he knew the
life of the slum, but he sang "We Shall Over Come!" Strong,
strong words. May the angels tell him how much he did for
this world! You changed the world for us. Thank You!

I think it is good that he stood up for the Blacks rights to do
things that they couldn't do! I agree it wasn't fair for them to
not be able to really do anything they wanted! Not all blacks
are bad, just like not all whites are good! There's been whites
who have shot people or did something really bad! It's just
not blacks!!!

It is amazing that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is still touching
our lives to day, still inspiring young ones. My daughter, who
is caucasian, has chosen to write about Mr. King. This is her
choice, not a scheduled assignment. The children at her
school were told to pick a topic, to write for the young
authors contest, and she chose him, because" He set a good
example for how we should live with each other and treat
other people." For her being a fourth grader, it gives me hope
for the future generations to know that our nation will be in
good hands.

kids, and he also started a boycott. We all know that he
wrote I HAD A DREAM. Well, our class had to do a work
sheet here, and I got done so I decided to surf the net.
I came here so I decided to write a message. I just like to say
that more kids really need to find this web site and do the
questions. It was a lot of fun and I hope that more kids end
up doing this program. Well, I hope people get this message.

I think that everyone should stand up for what is right. Just

That is really sad. We all need to do what we think is right
and stop doing something because everyone else is doing it.
Stand up for yourself. Remember you should always fight for

I think MLK was a person before his time . Some people are
just now learning that our color isn't bad. If you're White, say it.
If you're Hispanic, shout it. If you're African, scream it. Don't hide
it.
You're different, but so is everyone else! This is a free country, so
let's make it feel free. These are our lives, let's live them!
Why should we hide if we don't want to? Why should we
laugh if we don't feel like it? Why should we cry if not
needed? This life is for living! This air is for breathing! This food is
for eating!
Wanna shout? Shout! Wanna jump? Jump! Live life for what it is- life!

We think that Martin Luther King, Jr. was an extremely
amazing man. He fought for very important things including
fairness, equality, and freedom. We are very happy to know
that his "dream" did come true. Yet, we know how sad he
would be to see what has recently happened in our country.
We hope that people today will remember Martin's ideas and
find a way to live with freedom and peace.

I think this web site is really great. I think every school
should have the opportunity as our school SCMS(Switzerland

Luther King because it's a great opportunity. I for one am
proud of Dr.Martin Luther King. He felt as I do that every one is
equal.
We are all the same-- just different colors and beliefs, thats all.
Never make fun of a different color or belief. Thanks!!!!

I think Martin Luther King was a great, noble leader and is
a very important person in American history! I think one
of the main reasons America celebrates Martin Luther King
Day is because when people think of America, they think of
freedom of religion, gender, and race. That was not always
true, and Martin Luther King did something about it. I also
think this is a great website. Thanks Kayc

I loved your website. I thought Martin Luther King Jr. was
fighting for a very big cause that we need to solve for every
man is created equally. I believe that he had a great point
and was very brave to fight for it. It was terrible that
someone killed him because he was fighting for a good cause.
This website will help and teach all the people for generations
of the struggle African Americans went though to get to
where they are today. We need to learn about discrimination
to change it so that everyone white, purple, blue, pink or what
ever is treated equal.

King, Jr. was a nice man. When he came out the
door, somebody shot him. The world was sad.
M.L.King, Jr. is nice to the people, but he died

In my twelve years of my life, I couldn't understand
many things in life. Freedom means, to me, that you
are only looking ahead in your life, not behind. It
doesn't involve government. You are in control of
your actions as well as your reactions. You must
channel your anger into a more positive way. MKL
did that. He only showed us the way; we have to
make our own path and follow it. Uniquness is in
everyone. Find it. Show it. If you have to stumble
and fall, don't be afraid to ask for help. MLK taght us
that. I respect him for that.

I am a 7th grader and I really think that people
should study Martin's ways of nonviolence and study
the ways of Ghandi as MLK did. Maybe then we'll fully
comprehend where he was coming from and what he
said. Myself as an African American can see very clearly
what he was talking about, and I don't see how
others could just sit back and be happy with no
education at all, or so very little of it, after all
KING has done for us so that we can go to good
schools. But this site is wonderful.

I think MLK, Jr. was a good man with a good heart. He
wanted blacks and whites to be treated the same
and get to be friends. He was right.
We shouldn't be treated by our skin color, but what
we are inside

Brittany P.

I feel really sad that MLK is dead. If he were still here,
he would be my idol. I know for a fact that the people
that did that stuff to him and killed him would be real
embarrassed if they found out that he was a national
monument and a national holiday. I will cherish him
with all my heart and he will never fade away in my
hopes. Martin, I will definitely miss you even if you aren't
alive.

This is a good web site. You should include a
picture of his grave. I really wanted to see how it
looked. He was a great man, we know--but also you
didn't include who killed him!!!

Hello! I was referred to this site by a friend of mine. I am an
Americorps Volunteer, and looking for different activities to do on MLK
day. So far I have planned an art contest with a few students in the
grade school. I love learning about MLK, JR, he made a real impact on
this earth, and hopefully I can leave on just as he did. He did so much
for our country, I don't think he gets all the credit that is due.

This website speaks to all ages on the topic of Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. I believe that a thorough
reading of Dr. King's speeches can provide direction
for the future of the African American today. It was
Dr. King's the ability to convey ideas that speak to
the mass that brought the "American Negro" into the
new millennium. These same concepts practiced in the
community of today would have a profound impact
on our youth and the adults of tomorrow.

As a teacher in small town Nebraska, my 6th graders
aren't exposed to much multiculturalism. I try my
hardest throughout the year to, at the minimum, get
my students to think about the kinds of things Dr.
King taught us all. Tolerance, acceptance,
cohesiveness, peace. This scavenger hunt has
helped me come closer to helping my students. Dr.
King continues to be an inspiration! God bless him
always.

Indeed, MLK was a truly magnificent man, not only for his belief in
the practice of what Gandhi termed ahimsa (non-violent
resistance), but also because he was an extraordinary family
man.
